How the Warsaw process generally works

Official information

According to the Mazowieckie office, after you submit in MOS:

  1. The office registers the case and emails you the case number.
  2. You receive a summons with the date of your in-person appointment.
  3. At the appointment you show your travel document, give fingerprints and sign.
  4. The case is processed. You can follow it in inPOL.
  5. If the permit is granted, you receive a notice with the date and place to collect the residence card.

For the general version of this step, see Fingerprints for a residence permit.

The invitation

Official information

The summons arrives by email or through e-Doręczenia, the state electronic delivery service. It includes the appointment and a list of the documents required from you.

PolandEase explanation

Two things are worth setting up before the summons arrives: check that the email address in your application is one you actually read, and look at whether you have an e-Doręczenia address, since the office uses it for formal correspondence.

The appointment

Official information

The appointment is an in-person visit. The summons states where and when. Additional documents are not handed in at the office. The Mazowieckie office asks for them to be sent through e-Doręczenia.

PolandEase explanation

We are not listing an address here on purpose. Go by the address on your summons.

What applicants commonly wait for

In Warsaw there are three separate waits, and it helps to know which one you are in:

  • from submitting in MOS to the email with the case number;
  • from the case number to the summons for fingerprints;
  • from the fingerprint visit to the decision.

There are no official figures for the individual stages. For the proceeding as a whole, see official processing-time data for Mazowieckie.
